Westport is one of Ireland's most popular holiday destinations. The town itself has recently been awarded the overall winners of the 2001 Irish Tidy Towns competition.

Croagh Patrick has been a place of pilgrimage for 1500 years, named in honour of Irelands national apostle, Saint Patrick. Every year people travel from all over the world to climb to its summit, not only for religious purposes but also to view the spectacular 'Clew Bay'.
Westport also has it's own Golf Course which is an 18 hole championship course considered to be one of the best in Ireland and a 9 hole course both within driving distance from Plougastel House.
Beaches: Westport, with its miles of coastline, has many beautiful sandy blue flag beaches. These are ideal for swimming and walking.Watersports: There are sailing and yachting facilities available in Westport.
Angling Fishing is very popular in the area, with shore fishing and boat fishing available locally. There are also sea and fresh water fishing as well as deep sea fishing facilities in the area.
